Are you a non-theatre major looking for a place that will still let you act?  Do you keep the Sabbath but still enjoy being involved in theatre?  SHMUTZ is for you!  SHMUTZ promises to provide NYU students with a theatrical company that remains open to all students, assuring that their religious beliefs and theatrical desires never conflict.  All rehearsals and performances are eliminated on Shabbat and other Jewish religious holidays. SHMUTZ is for you regardless of your religion, major, or anything else!

SHMUTZ has the distinction of being associated with http://www.nyu.edu/clubs/hilleljcf as well as the Bronfman Center for Jewish Student Life.  What does that mean?  Our productions are well funded, we are continuously provided with rehearsal spaces, and we have a plethora of wonderful resources always available to us.
