Gallery: Relief Effort for Victims of the Southeast Asia Tsunami
On Tuesday, January 18th at 7:30 PM, the Bronfman Center for Jewish Student Life at New York University, in partnership with Avoda Arts, will launch and host a week-long arts project to aid in the relief effort for victims of the tsunami disaster in Southeast Asia. The walls of the Bronfman Center gallery will be used as dedicated space for the purpose of creating large-scale images and text messages of support which will be sent to various locations devastated by the tsunami. Tobi Kahn, renowned artist and sculptor, will lead students and community members in this creative expression of support. Also during the evening, a panel which will include a personal witness to the aftermath of the disaster and representatives from the United Nations, the American Red Cross, and the American Jewish World Service will help students to shape fundraising and other response strategies. The canvases and artistic supplies will continue to be open to the University community and the general public to avail themselves of January 18 through 23rd.
