Contact Ashley Small DecemberTuesday, December 1st at 6:00 PM The Goldstone Report: Armed Conflict and the Duty to Investigate@ New York University’s Hemmerdinger Hall in Silver Center (100 Washington Square East at Washington Place) David Kretzmer, a member of the UN Human Rights Committee from 1995 to 2002, will deliver a public lecture, “The Goldstone Report: Armed Conflict and the Duty to Investigate.” Kretzmer, who served as vice-chairperson of the UN Human Rights Committee in 2001 and 2002, has authored, among other works: The Occupation of Justice: The Supreme Court of Israel and the Occupied Territories; The Concept of Human Dignity in Human Rights Discourse, a co-edited volume; and The Legal Status of the Arabs in Israel. For the last two years he has been co-chair of the executive board of B’Tselem, the Israel Information Center for Human Rights in the Occupied Territories. A professor emeritus of international law at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Kretzmer was a founding member and past chairperson of the Association for Civil Rights in Israel. During the 2009-10 academic year, Kretzmer is an inaugural fellow at the Straus Institute for the Advanced Study of Law and Justice at the NYU School of Law.
