Gallery - Small WitnessesSmall Witnesses: The Crisis in Darfur Through Children's Eyes
Twenty-seven drawings depict the world of the children of Darfur who escaped the killings in Sudan. Their crayon and pencil offerings show rape, men on horseback with guns, burning villages and helicopters raining weapon fire from the sky. The exhibition, "The Smallest Witnesses: The Conflict in Darfur Through Children's Eyes," will be on display through Sept. 6. The work of the children, who range in age from 8 to 17, was collected in February by researchers from Human Rights Watch, an independent human rights organization. The exhibit is open Mondays - Thursdays 7:30 am - 8:30 pm and Fridays 7:30 am - 4 pm, or by appointment. Special thanks to Olivier Bercault, Dr. Annie Sparrow, Ritu Chattree, Jackie Miller, Aviva Levine, and Barbara Kirshenblatt-Gimblett for making this project possible. |
