Wellesley Invitational Results
The New York University women's cross country team finished in third place at the Wellesley College Invitational on Saturday, October 20, in Wellesley, Massachusetts.
Host Wellesley had each of the top-five finishers and won the race with the minimum score of 15.
Connecticut College just edged NYU 63-64 for second place in the four-team invitational.
The Violets' top finisher was senior captain Natalie Wilson, who finished the 5,000-meter course in ninth place with a time of 20:39.
Senior Jane Wolkowicz was NYU's second finisher, taking 14th place in a time of 21:16.
Also finishing in the top-20 for the Violets were freshmen Emily Olsen (17th place, 21:36) and Katherine Wang (18th place, 21:42).
Junior Meagan Buckley was the Violets' fifth scorer (23rd place, 22:24).
"We would have liked to finish in second and I'm disappointed that we didn't, but we probably would have had Natalie (Helpern) been able to run," said NYU head coach Jef Smith. "But, I held her out for next week's UAA (University Athletic Association) Championship because of a strained calf muscle."
The squad will compete at the UAA next Saturday, October 27, at Brandeis University in Waltham, MA.
