
Women's Cross Country Finishes Sixth at Westfield

The New York University women's cross country team finished in sixth place at the James Earley Invitational, which was hosted by Westfield State College in Westfield, Massachusetts, on Saturday, October 6.
The Violets compiled 251 teams points and finished directly ahead of Gordon College (256 points) and right behind Salem State College (169).
Trinity College won the race with a total of 37 points.
NYU's top finisher was senior co-captain Natalie Wilson, who crossed the finish line in 32nd place in a time of 20:46.
Freshman Emily Olsen was the next Violet to finish, tickling the tape in 55th place with a time of 21:24.
Also scoring for NYU were senior Jane Wolkowicz (59th place, 21:32), freshman Katherine Wang (61st, 21:34), and freshman Natalie Helpern (75th, 22:00).
The 5,000-meter race was run under extremely hot and humid conditions, with the temperature rising to approximately 85 degrees.
Twenty teams and 232 individuals competed in the race.
"Overall, I thought it was a very good performance by our runners considering the conditions," said NYU head coach Jef Smith.
The squad returns to action on Saturday, October 20, when the Violets compete at the Wellesley College Invitational.
