New York University is set to host the NCAA Atlantic Regional Cross Country Championship this Saturday, November 10, at the fabled Van Cortlandt Park course in the Bronx. The women’s race begins at 10:30am and the men’s race is set for 11:30am.

The NYU men’s team, currently ranked #2 in the nation in the latest United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division III Poll, is the defending NCAA Atlantic Region champion, as well as the 2006 National Runner-up.

Overall, 42 men’s teams and 42 women’s teams will be vying for automatic qualification for the NCAA Division III Cross Country National Championship, will be held at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota, on Saturday, November 17.

“We are pleased to have the opportunity to host this great event,“ said Christopher Bledsoe, NYU’s Director of Athletics, Intramurals and Recreation. “Van Cortlandt Park is a terrific venue for a competition of this magnitude, and New York University is happy to be host to all of these outstanding student-athletes and teams.”

The top two team finishers in both races automatically qualify for Nationals, while there is also a potential for a few “wild card” entries to come out of the region.

The NYU men have won six of their seven races this season, including the New York Metropolitan Championship and the University Athletic Association Championship.
