Men's Cross Country's Schneider Tabbed as ECAC, UAA Athlete of the Week

New York University junior Jesse Schneider added to his University Athletic Association (UAA) Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week award by collecting the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week honor.

Schneider was tabbed after winning his first collegiate race, leading the Violets, ranked #2 in the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division III poll, to the team championship of the Connecticut College Invitational on Sept. 22. A 2006 NCAA Division III cross country All-American, the junior ran the 8,000-meter course in 25:02 to outdistance a field of 216 competitors.

In the process, NYU defeated 18 other teams including a pair of ranked Division II programs (#6 Stonehill College and #23 Southern Connecticut State University), a Division I outfit (University of Connecticut) and a ranked Division III squad (#31 Brandeis University).
