Fresh off its best regular-season ever and a strong performance Sunday at the Metropolitan Conference Championships, the New York University wrestling team moved up one spot to a program-best #13 ranking in the Brute-Adidas National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Division III Team Rankings.

The 2008 University Athletic Association champions finished the regular season 16-1, then placed second at the Metropolitan Championships as three grapplers won their weight classes and qualified automatically for the NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships: seniors Steve Hult (141 pounds), Takafumi Hashimoto (157) and Nick Coleman (184).

In the NWCA Brute-Adidas Individual Rankings, Hashimoto moved up one spot to #6 in his weight class. Meanwhile, Hult (#4), a two-time national qualifier, and Coleman (#7), a 2007 NCAA Division III All-American after placing sixth at 184, maintained the same ranking.

The NYU trio will begin their respective quests for individual national championships on Friday, March 7, at the NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships in Cedar Rapids, IA.
