Wrestling's Shuminov Scores UAA Athlete of the Week Citation

New York University junior grappler Naum Shuminov earned his first University Athletic Association (UAA) Wrestling Athlete of the Week award after a stellar performance at a quad-meet last week.

Shuminov produced three pinfall victories at 174 pounds for NYU, ranked #26 in the latest Brute/Adidas National Wrestling Coaches Association Division III Team Rankings, in team wins over King's College (33-10), #15 York College-PA (19-16) and Gettysburg College (32-13).

All three of Shuminov's falls came in the first period, with the fastest coming when he decked Mike Reilly of King's in 1:00.

For the season, the native of Houston sports a record of 13-11 with a team-best eight pins for NYU (9-1).

NYU returns to action Saturday, Feb. 2, when it takes part in the Metro New England Duals at Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Worcester, MA. The action begins at noon.
