Wrestling's Layman Tabbed as UAA Athlete of the Week

New York University senior wrestler James Layman was named the University Athletic Association (UAA) Athlete of the Week on Tuesday.

Layman, a heavyweight, won a pair of overtime matches as NYU posted weekend victories over Hunter College (33-9) and Bridgewater State College (28-3).

In his bout against Hunter, Layman needed six overtimes to come away with a 4-3 decision. The next day against Bridgewater State, he went three overtimes to score a 5-3 decision.

For the season, Layman is 12-8 overall and 3-1 in dual matches.
