Wrestlers Finish Second at Red Dragon Invitational

The New York University wrestling team placed second at the Oneonta State Red Dragon Invitational on Saturday in Oneonta, NY.

NYU compiled 133 team points, finishing behind only SUNY Cortland (167 points) in the 12-team invitational.

Senior captain Nick Coleman captured the 184-pound weight class and was named the invitational's Most Outstanding Wrestler. Seeded #1, he defeated all four of his opponents, including #2 seed Treavor Leblanc of Cortland 8-3 in the finals.

Senior captain Takafumi Hashimoto took third place in his weight class (157) and earned the Most Falls Award, pinning four opponents, including Eric Levenseller of Johns Hopkins University in the third-place match.

Other top finishers for NYU were senior Thomas Masciale, who placed second at 133 pounds, freshman Gregg Martino, who took second at 141 pounds, and senior captain James Layman, who finished fourth at heavyweight.
