2007 NYSWCAA All-State Selections

The New York University women's volleyball team is set to host the 2007 New York State Women's Collegiate Athletic Association (NYSWCAA) Championship this weekend, Saturday-Sunday, October 27-28, at the Coles Sports Center in Manhattan.

The NYSWCAA Championship pits the top-12 teams in New York State in a single-elimination tournament. The top four seeds (#1 RIT, #2 Nazareth College, #3 Ithaca College, #4 SUNY Brockport) receive a first round bye and will face the winners of the four first round matches.

NYU (14-15, 3-4 UAA) enter the tournament as the #5 seed and will face the #12-seeded St. Lawrence University Saints (17-14) in a first round match at 10:00 am.

The Violets have won the NYSWCAA Championship the past four years and were runners-up in 2002.

On Saturday, after the 10:00 am matches, the 2007 NYSWCAA All-State Selections will be announced. Awards will be handed out for Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, Offensive Player of the Year, Rookie of the Year and Coach of the Year. 12 First Team All-State and six All-State Honorable Mention certificates will also be awarded.
