Women's Volleyball to Christen Season Friday at Labor Day Invitational

Ranked #20 in the preseason American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA)/CSTV Division III Poll, the New York University women's volleyball team will make its 2007 debut at home on Friday, August 31, when it hosts the NYU Labor Day Invitational.

The Violets (33-7, 8-4 University Athletic Association in 2006) will open against Mount St. Vincent College at 4 pm, then take a breather before facing SUNY Geneseo at 8 pm. NYU will face Simpson College (noon) and City College of New York (2 pm) on Saturday.

NYU reached the NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball Championship for the fifth straight year in 2006, advancing to the second round. Junior setter Caitlin Grundman earned AVCA Honorable Mention All-America accolades last fall. Grundman and fellow junior Stacy Goto will serve as team captains.
