Women's Volleyball Enters 2007 Season Ranked #20

CSTV/AVCA Women's Division III Preseason Poll

The New York University women’s volleyball team will enter the 2007 season with its fourth top-20 national ranking in as many years. The Violets, led by head coach Ed Caesar, are ranked #20 in the CSTV/AVCA (American Volleyball Coaches Association) Division III Coaches Top-25 Preseason Poll.

The #20 ranking marks the 50th consecutive poll in which the Violets have been ranked.

The 2006 team finished the year at #22 in the nation after putting together a 33-7 season and advancing to the second round of the NCAA Division III Tournament.

The 2006 National Champion, Juniata College, will begin the 2007 campaign on top of the poll, securing 14 of the 24 first-place votes. The Violets are scheduled to face the Eagles during the 2007 Bomber Invitational hosted by Ithaca College on Sept. 7.

Other notable teams in the rankings include University Athletic Association foes Washington University – St. Louis (#4) and Emory University (#5).

The Violets begin the season on Friday, Aug. 31, when they host their annual NYU Labor Day Invitational. First serve is set for 4pm against the College of Mount Saint Vincent.
