
NYU Women's Volleyball Receives AVCA Team Academic Award

The 2006 New York University women's volleyball team was one of the 54 NCAA Division III women's teams named as a recipient of the 2006-07 Game Plan/AVCA Team Academic Award.
The award, which was instituted during the 1992-93 academic year, honors both collegiate and high school men's and women's teams that display academic excellence by maintaining a 3.30 cumulative GPA or better throughout the academic year. During the 2006-07 academic season, 308 schools were recognized, an all-time high.
On the court during the 2006 season, the Violets posted a 33-7 record, won four tournament titles, captured its fourth straight New York State Women's Collegiate Athletic Association (NYSWCAA) Tournament title, and reached the NCAA Tournament for the fifth consecutive year.
The 2006-07 award marks the fourth straight for the NYU women under head coach Ed Caesar. During the four-year streak, NYU has posted a 148-27 record and has reached the NCAA Tournament all four years.
