Men's Volleyball Falls in Four at Princeton

Junior captain Devin Zolnowski recorded a match-high 22 kills, but it wasn't enough as the New York University men's volleyball team fell 3-1 to Princeton University on Tuesday in Princeton, NJ.

The Violets (7-5), currently ranked #6 in the CSTV/AVCA (American Volleyball Coaches Association) Division III Men's Top 15 Coaches Poll, took the first game off of the Tigers (3-3) 30-25, but dropped the next three 30-20, 30-24, 32-30.

Senior captain Jonathan Wintermeyer was the other Violet in double-digits, recording 13 kills while adding four digs and two blocks.

Zolnowski also notched seven digs.

Freshman middle blocker Francis Hodgson also had a strong match, putting down eight kills while hitting a team-best .438. He also added a team-best six assisted blocks.

On the defensive side of the ball, senior captain David Tener recorded his second double-digit digs match in a row, putting up 10 balls while going 36 for 36 on service receptions.

Junior outside Phillip Rosenberg led the way for the Tigers, recording a double-double with 17 kills and 11 digs.

The Violets return to the court next Wednesday, February 20, when they return to the Jerome S. Coles Sports Center to take on EIVA (Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association) Hay Division opponent University of New Haven. First serve is set for 7:00 pm.
