
Men's Volleyball Falls at Stevens

The New York University men's volleyball team, currently ranked #6 in the CSTV/AVCA (American Volleyball Coaches Association) Division III Top 15 Men's Volleyball Coaches Poll, fell to fifth-ranked Stevens Institute of Technology 3-1 on Wednesday, January 16, in Hoboken, New Jersey.
The Violets (4-1) took the first game 30-27, but dropped the next three to the Ducks (1-0) 30-27, 31-29, 30-22. It was the Violets' first loss of the season.
Leading the way for NYU was junior tri-captain Devin Zolnowski, who recorded a team-best 14 kills while adding five digs and two blocks.
Also recording double-digit kills for the Violets was sophomore Eric Chakeen, who put down 10 kills while adding three blocks.
Freshman middle blocker Francis Hodgson continued his strong season by recording nine kills while hitting a team-best .444. He also tallied seven total blocks to bring his season total to 27 total blocks through five matches.
The Violets return to action this Friday night when they host SUNY New Paltz in the team's 2008 home opener. First serve is set for 7:00 pm.
