Men's Volleyball Sweeps Through Buffalo

The New York University men's volleyball team recorded victories over Medaille College and Mount Olive College on Sundayin Buffalo, NY, and continued its unbeaten season.

The Violets (4-0), currently ranked #6 in the CSTV/AVCA (American Volleyball Coaches Association) Division III Men's Top-15 Coaches Poll, defeated the 13th-ranked Medaille College 3-1 (30-23, 30-32, 30-27, 30-24) and Mount Olive College 3-0 (30-21, 30-19, 30-27) to finish 3-0 at the Nickel City Classic at D'Youville College.

NYU is off to its best start since the inception of the rally-scoring era.

Leading the way for NYU was junior tri-captain Devin Zolnowski who recorded 33 kills while hitting .254 in the two victories. He also notched seven total blocks, 12 digs and two service aces.

Also starring was tri-captain Jonathan Wintermeyer. The senior put down 20 kills while hitting .353 in the two matches. He also totaled seven blocks and seven digs.

Continuing a strong first weekend to his collegiate career, freshman Francis Hodgson recorded 14 kills while hitting a team-best .478. He also notched a team-best 14 total blocks, including five solos.

The Violets return to action this Wednesday, January 16, when they travel across the Hudson River to take on Stevens Institute of Technology. The Ducks are currently ranked #5 in the Division III AVCA Coaches Poll.
