#6-Ranked Men's Volleyball Season Opens on Friday at Mercyhurst College

The New York University men's volleyball team, ranked #6 in the nation in the Preseason CSTV/AVCA Division III Coaches Poll, opens its 2008 season this Friday, January 11, when the Violets face Mercyhurst College in Erie, Pennsylvania.

The match, which is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m., can be viewed via the Internet courtesy of Mercyhurst.

The Violets will also compete in the Nickel City Classic in Buffalo, NY, on Saturday and Sunday, January 12-13. NYU faces D'Youville College on Saturday, and both Medaille College and Mt. Olive College on Sunday.

Those matches will not be broadcast.

NYU finished 13-16 overall (6-4 in the Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association Hay Division) in 2007 and was ranked #6 in the nation in the CSTV/AVCA (American Volleyball Coaches Association) Division III Coaches' Poll.
