07/30/07

The 2007 New York University men's volleyball team was one of only three NCAA men's teams named as a recipient of the 2006-07 Game Plan/AVCA Team Academic Award.

The award, which was instituted during the 1992-93 academic year, honors both collegiate and high school men's and women's teams that display academic excellence by maintaining a 3.30 cumulative GPA or better throughout the academic year. During the 2006-07 academic season, 308 schools were recognized, an all-time high.

On the court during the 2007 season, the Violets posted a 13-16 record, including 6-4 in conference, the most wins for head coach Jose Pina since the 2004 season.

The 2006-07 award marks the second consecutive for the NYU men under coach Pina.
