2008 UAA Track & Field Championships Results

The New York University women's track & field team more than doubled its point total from a year ago with its performance at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Outdoor Track & Field Championships, which were held Saturday and Sunday, April 19-20, at the University of Chicago.

The Violets, who finished seventh, accumulated 30.50 points compared to a total of 14 points in 2007.

Washington University of St. Louis won the championship with 259 points.

Sophomore Caitlin Gibson produced career bests in both the 200 meters and 100 meters. She finished fourth in the 200 meters (26.16) and fifth in the 100 meters (12.83).

Sophomore Maureen Griffin was a double-scorer for the Violets, taking third place in the javelin (28.38 meters) and sixth in the hammer throw (35.01).

Freshman Kiley Bunch was seventh in the high jump (1.41 meters).

The Violets' 4x800 meter relay team finished fifth (9:54.06).

"This was a much improved performance over last year," said NYU head coach Nick McDonough, who took over the women's program prior to the 2008 indoor season. "We continue to improve all around and were able to score points in many different areas."
