02/16/08
Senior captain Beatrix Jackson produced the Violets' top performance of the season as the New York University women's track & field team competed at the Robert J. Kane Invitational at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY, on Saturday.
Jackson ran her fastest time of the season in the 500 meters, posting a 1:22.80 and placing second in the event. Her previous best time this season was 1:23.90.
Later in the meet, Jackson teamed with sophomore Kathryn Shannon, and freshmen Caroline Tegzes and Kiley Bunce to finish seventh in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 4:22.28.
"Beatrix is right on target for breaking the NYU 500- meter record and to record a top-10 finish at the state championships," said NYU head coach Jef Smith. "She's probably ranked #5 right now."
There was no team scoring at the meet.
