Women's Track & Field Team Competes at East Stroudsburg

The New York University women's track & field team participated at the DeSchriver Invitational at East Stroudsburg University in East Stroudsburg, PA, on Saturday.

The Violets' top performance at the meet was a third-place finish in the 4x800-meter relay.

Freshman Kristin Marshall, senior co-captain Beatrix Jackson, sophomore Kathryn Shannon, and senior Natalie Wilson combined to post a time of 10:35.82.

Wilson also produced a 14th-place finish (of 31 runners) in the mile with a time of 5:52.3, while Jackson was 15th (of 36 runners) in the 400 meters with a time of 1:04.5.

The Violets' 4x200-meter relay team of freshman Caroline Tegzes, sophomore Kaitlin Gibson, freshman Kiley Bunce, and junior co-captain Joy Ekema-Agbaw registered a seventh-place finish in a time of 1:56.20.

Gibson also recorded a 19th-place finish (of 46 runners) in the 55 meters (7.98).

There was no team scoring at the meet

"It's still very early in the season, only our second meet, but I think we're coming along well," said NYU head coach Jef Smith. "We'll be looking to step it up as we get into the state and conference portions of our schedule."

The squad returns to action next Saturday, February 9, when they compete at the Smith College Invitational in Northampton, MA.
