Jackson Sets Women's Track Record at Swarthmore

Senior Beatrix Jackson's school-record performance in the 800-meter run, leading the New York University women's track and field team at the Swarthmore College Last Chance Meet on Tuesday in Swarthmore, PA.

Competing in the second heat, Jackson continued a strong close to her final collegiate season, posting her fifth personal-best time in six weeks by clocking an Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) qualifying time of 2:17.07. It proved to be the best time in school history, both indoor and outdoor. The previous outdoor standard of 2:19.88 was set by Robin Kloc in 2003, while the best indoor standard (2:19.85) was set by Jamie Jones, also in 2003.

Jackson's time was good for fourth in her heat.

"She had a great senior outdoor season and continued to improve every week," head coach Nick McDonough said.

Also of note Tuesday was assistant coach Lauren Henkel's performance in the seeded heat of the 800-meter run, as she posted a time of 2:11.52. Running unattached, she placed sixth overall out of 25 competitors.
