Men's Track & Field Finishes Sixth at UAA Championships

2008 UAA Track & Field Championships Results

The New York University men's track & field team finished in sixth place at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Outdoor Track & Field Championships, which were held Saturday and Sunday, April 19-20, at the University of Chicago.

The Violets accumulated 36 points in the seven-team competition.

Carnegie Mellon University won the championship with 198.5 points.

Junior Jesse Schneider was the team's lone winner, earning 10 points and taking the 5,000 meters in a time of 14:51.52.

"Jesse ran a great race, really exploding in the final 600 meters," said NYU head coach Nick McDonough.

The Violets also had a pair of third-place finishers, with senior Nile Nahar-Brown running 50.27 in the 400 meters and junior Bernier Lauredan, Jr. running 1:56.82 in a tactical 800-meter race.

Freshman Noah MacNeil took sixth place in the 10,000 meters, running a time of 33:00.15.

Also scoring for NYU was the 4x800 meter relay team, which took seventh place (8:02.90) and grabbed two points.

Freshman Joe Lota recorded a personal-best 12.48 meters and finished eighth in the triple jump.
