Several members of the New York University men's track & field produced noteworthy times in competition at the Penn Invitational in Philadelphia, PA, on Saturday.
Sophomore Calvin Lee, competing in the 3,000m steeplechase for the first time, finished eighth with a time of 9:41.26.
"That's a very good effort for his first-ever outing in the event," said NYU head coach Nick McDonough.
Junior Robert Joynt and freshman Noah MacNeil ran well in the 5,000m and each posted personal bests. Joynt finished eighth in a time of 15:20.59, while MacNeil took 15th in 15:37.10.
In the 800m, junior Bernier Lauredan, Jr. (1:55.58) and senior Nile Nahar-Brown (1:56.03) produced top-20 finishes, capturing 14th place and 17th place, respectively.
"For their first runs of the season in the event, the guys ran pretty well," McDonough commented.
Brown, junior Maciej Szelazek, Lauredan, Jr., and senior Jean Blardony combined for an 11th-place finish in the 4x400m relay with a time of 3:25.58.
Also setting a personal best on the day was junior Mark Hess in the 1,500m (4:08.49).
The Violets return to action on Saturday, April 12, when they compete at The College of New Jersey Invitational in Ewing, NJ. It will also be the team's annual Alumni/Family Day.
