Seven-time All-American Hany Abdallah set the NYU outdoor 10,000m record with his winning performance at the Sam Howell Invitational at Princeton University on Friday, April 4.

Abdallah, who also owns the Violets' indoor 3,000m and 5,000m records, ran 29:50.29 on Friday and automatically qualified for the NCAA Division III Track & Field Championships next month at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. The senior broke the existing record of 30:06 set by Jon Phillips in 2007.

"Hany ran a great race," said NYU head coach Nick McDonough. "It was a great effort for where he is in his training at this point of the season."

Junior Jesse Schneider (7th place, 30:27.11) and senior Ryan Williams (30:37.65) finished among the top-10 in the race and hit the NCAA provisional qualifying mark.

"They both hit personal bests that should get them into nationals," McDonough added.

Also running a personal best on Friday was senior Spenser Popeson, who posted a time of 15:06 in the 5,000m.

The Violets get right back on track when they compete in the University of Pennsylvania Invitational in Philadelphia, PA, on Saturday.
