Senior Hany Abdallah became a seven-time All-American after finishing third in the 5,000-meter run at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday at Ohio Northern University in Ada, OH.

Among the most decorated runners in the proud history of NYU men's track and field, Abdallah crossed the tape in 14:31.41, less than eight seconds off the winning pace set by the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh junior William Kaul (14:23.43).

This is the second time Abdallah earned All-American honors during the indoor season. Last March, he placed sixth in the 5K race, helping the Violets finish tied for 10th nationally.

A senior from Madison, NJ, Abdallah is also a three-time cross country All-American, and garnered All-America accolades in the 5K and 10K runs at the 2007 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships. He was NYU's top finisher, placing ninth, in helping the program capture its first-ever NCAA Division III National Championship last November.

Abdallah's performance was worth six points for the Violets, which put NYU into a tie for 36th place in the 61-team competition.
