Men's Track's Abdallah Qualifies for NCAA's in 5,000-Meter Run

A six-time All-American, New York University senior Hany Abdallah will continue his quest for his first individual national championship on Saturday at the 2008 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships.

The Violets' lone national qualifier, Abdallah will compete in the 5,000-meter run at Ohio Northern University in Ada, OH, a year after placing sixth in the event at the NCAA Indoor Championships.

Abdallah clocked the second fastest time in Division III, crossing the tape in 14:25.47 at the Boston University Valentine Invitiatonal on Feb. 9.

Previously, the senior from Madison, NJ, earned All-America honors three times in cross country (2005, 2006, 2007), twice in outdoor track (5K and 10K in 2007) and once in indoor track (last winter). Abdallah placed ninth as an individual in helping NYU capture its first-ever NCAA Division III Cross Country National Championship last November.
