Junior Jesse Schneider placed third in the 5,000-meter run, highlighting the New York University men's track and field team's performance on the first day of the 2008 University Athletic Association (UAA) Indoor Track and Field Championships on Friday at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland.
Already a provisional qualifier in the 5,000-meter run based on a previous performance at the Boston University Terrier Invitational on Jan. 26, Schneider, a two-time cross country All-American, clocked a time of 15:03.99 to account for six of the seven points the Violets accumulated on the day.
NYU's other point-producing effort came from its distance medley relay, which placed sixth in 10:38.48. Junior Bernier Lauredan, Jr., was the only regular member of the Violets' DMR, and was joined by junior Mark Hess, senior Jean-Paul Blardony and junior Andrew Fouratt.
Overall, the Violets are in seventh place with seven points heading into Saturday's action.
