Another record-setting performance helped New York University senior Hany Abdallah earn the University Athletic Association (UAA) Men's Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week award.
The six-time All-American (3 cross country, 2 outdoor track, 1 indoor track) claimed his latest place in the Violets' record book by setting a fresh standard in the 3,000-meter run Feb. 29 at the NYU Fastrack Invitational. His time of 8:19.65 eclipsed the previous mark of 8:20.52 set by Travis Keany in 2004.
In addition, the senior from Madison, NJ, anchored NYU's distance medley relay team that ran a season-best and NCAA "B" cut time of 10:05.33.
Abdallah is also the indoor (14:21.87, set in 2008) and outdoor record holder (14:12.46, set in 2007) in the 5,000-meter run.
