Men's Track & Field Team Competes in Boston

The New York University men's track & field team competed at the Boston University Valentine Invitational on Saturday, February 9.

Team records were broken by senior All-American Hany Abdallah in the 5,000 meters and by senior Nile Nahar-Brown in the 500 meters.

Abdallah's time of 14:21.87 broke his own team record of 14:25, which he set last season, and was an automatic NCAA-qualifying time. Abdallah's impressive third-place finish was recorded in an event which consisted of 123 runners.

"Hany is really coming along and training well in preparation for the NCAA Championships in five weeks," said NYU head coach Nick McDonough. "He's on course for another successful run at All-America honors."

Nahar-Brown's time of 1:05.66 broke the one-year mark of 1:05.68 set by teammate Bernier Lauredan, Jr. Nahar-Brown's time was good for 17th place in a field of 66.

In the mile race, senior Spencer Popeson ran a career-best 4:17.08 to claim 40th place in a field of 167 runners. Junior Geoffrey McGrane posted a season best in the event with his 55th-place time of 4:19.31.
