The New York University men's track & field team finished in seventh place at the Metropolitan Indoor Championships at the New Balance Track & Field Center at the Armory in Manhattan on Friday.
NYU was the only NCAA Division III squad in the 13-team field.
The Violets finished with 40 points, only one behind sixth-place Fairleigh Dickinson University.
Manhattan College won the title with 136 points.
It was another impressive outing for NYU junior Bernier Lauredan, Jr. The Parsippany, New Jersey, native took third in the 800m (1:54.96) and helped lead the Violets' distance medley relay team to a third-place finish, as well.
That relay group also included senior All-American Hany Abdallah, as well as juniors Geoffrey McGrane and Maciej Szelazek.
"Our 800 and mile groups ran very well this weekend," said NYU head coach Nick McDonough. "They continue to improve, and we look for big things from them at the end of the season."
Freshman Matt Turlip had a fifth-place showing (4:19.44) in the mile, finishing second in his heat, while junior Robert Joynt took third (8:47.46) in the 3,000m.
The Violets also fared well in the 1,000m, with senior Spenser Popeson taking fourth place (2:31.53) and sophomore Zach Maher (2:31.53) finishing fifth.
