NYC Gotham Cup Results

The New York University men’s track and field team gave a valiant effort at the NYC Gotham Cup, held Friday at the New Balance Armory Track and Field Center.

Heading the list of top performers for the team was sophomore Calvin Lee, who took second place in the 5,000m with a time of 15:43.15. Junior Jesse Schneider also impressed with a time of 8:42.61 in the 3,000m, good for a 10th-place finish.

Senior Spenser Popeson is enjoying a solid final season in purple and white. Not only did he have a top-15 finish, capturing 13th in the 1,000m (2:32.86), but he also helped the Violets take fifth in the 4x800 relay (7:57.29) along with junior Bernier Laureden Jr., sophomore Zach Maher and freshman Matt Turlip.

“We had some solid finishes today,” said head coach Nick McDonough. “Our times are down some from last week, and we are looking to bring them down even further as the season progresses.”

The Violets will be back in action on Saturday, January 26, as they head north to participate in the Boston University Terrier Invitational.
