Women’s Tennis Falls in Last Regular-Season Match

04/13/08

The New York University women's tennis team fell to Brandeis University 6-3 on Sunday, April 13, in Waltham, MA.

The Violets (7-6) got off to a fast start, sweeping all three doubles competitions to take a 3-0 lead.

After a rain delay moved the match indoors, Brandeis was quick to adjust, winning all six singles matches to take the match from NYU.

“We looked sharp in doubles,” NYU head coach Horace Choy remarked. “Then the rains came and we were unable to make the transition from outdoors to indoors. Brandeis was used to their indoor courts and took advantage of that after the weather forced play indoors.”

The match was the last regular-season competition for the Violets, who ended the regular season on a three-match losing streak.

NYU now looks to the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship, which will be held from Friday, April 18, through Sunday, April 20. The event will be hosted by Washington University in St. Louis, MO.
