The New York University women's tennis team fell to The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) 6-3 on Friday, April 4, in Ewing, NJ.

The Violets (7-4) won one doubles match and a pair of singles matches as their six-match winning streak was snapped.

TCNJ (9-5) is currently ranked #27 in Division III and has won three straight matches.

There were a few bright spots on the day for NYU. Junior Stephanie Tu paired up with senior co-captain Jaclyn Manning and together defeated Sarah Roser and Amanda Berg of TCNJ 8-0 in #2 doubles. Tu then went on to win her #2 singles match over TCNJ’s Christina Contrafatto 6-4, 6-4.

Tu is now 6-0 at #2 singles this year.

Along with Tu, senior co-captain Meggie Smith also won her singles match, defeating Amanda Berg of TCNJ 6-1, 2-6, 10-4. Smith is 6-0 for the Violets at #3 singles this year.

“TCNJ is a strong team,” said NYU head coach Horace Choy. “Overall, I’m pleased with the way our team competed.”

The Violets return to the court Sunday, April 6, at 12:00pm, when they host Fordham University at the National Tennis Center in Flushing, NY, on the annual Family/Alumni Day.
