Women's Tennis Edged by Skidmore

09/16/07

The New York University women's tennis team was edged by Skidmore College 5-4 in a match played on Sunday afternoon, September 16, at Fordham University in the Bronx.

With the score tied 4-4, Skidmore's Caroline Sherman defeated NYU junior Amanda Freeman in three sets: 6-7(2), 6-4, 6-4 at #5 singles to clinch the match.

NYU is now 0-2 this season.

"We have several new players and another player who did not see much action last season, so this is definitely going to be a learning experience in the early part of the season," said NYU head coach Horace Choy. "But, we certainly played better today that yesterday (an 8-1 loss to Vassar College). So, I'm hoping the trend will continue."

The Violets return to the court next weekend when they compete at the ITA Northeast Regional Championships at William Smith College in Geneva, NY.
