The New York University men's tennis team snapped a three-match losing streak by defeating Babson College 8-1 at the Middlebury College Invitational on Friday, March 7, in Middlebury, VT.

The Violets (2-4) won two of three doubles matches and all six singles matches to secure the victory.

"It was a nice win for the team," commented NYU head coach Horace Choy. "It was big for our team to come out of the doubles matches with the lead."

Senior co-captain Mikhail Gurevich (#1 singles) scored possibly the biggest win of the night. He rebounded from a set down and fended off five match points in the tie-breaker to notch his singles win.

"Gurevich coming back to win his match was crucial," Choy said. "It was a huge boost for the team. His win turned things around for us."

The Violets continue their play at the Middlebury College Invitational on Saturday when they face Bates College at 6:00 pm.
