Women's Swimming and Diving Topples Rowan

The New York University women’s swimming and diving team defeated Rowan University 155-85 at the Palladium Athletic Facility on Saturday, November 3 to move to 5-0.

Sophomore Danielle Hildebrandt led the way for the Violets, winning two individual events. She took the 200 free in a time of 1:59.73 and then went on to win the 200 fly in 2:13.35. Hildebrandt was also a part of the winning 400 medley relay team along with freshman Chelsea Pfohl, freshman Maria Woodman, and sophomore Patricia Beck. They won the event in a time of 4:08.06.

Pfohl, Woodman, and Beck also won individual events for the Violets. Pfohl won the 200 back in 2:11.60, Woodman the 200 breast in a time of 2:33.22, and Beck took the 200 IM in a time of 2:15.42.

The Violets also took the 400 free relay in 3:45.35 behind a strong showing by freshman Alexandra Strzempko, senior captain Amy Gartman, junior Cait Albrecht, and senior Janelle Szary.

The NYU Violets diving team performed solidly as well with junior Melanie Peters taking both the one-meter (235.05) and three-meter (248.55).

The Violets next return to action on Saturday, November 10 at the Palladium Athletic Facility where they host the U.S. Coast Guard Academy and Wheaton College.
