09/24/07

The New York University women's swimming & diving team ranked among the nation's leaders in their classroom performances during the 2006-07 academic year.

The College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) recently revealed its Academic All-America list, and the Violets ranked #9 (along with Kenyon College) in the nation with a cumulative grade point average of 3.490 for '06-07.

"This is as outstanding achievement for our student-athletes, who work just as hard outside of the pool in order to be as successful as they can possibly be," said NYU head coach Lauren Beam.

Pomona-Pitzer College was the top-ranked academic team with a cumulative 3.680 GPA.

Other University Athletic Association (UAA) schools ranked among the leaders were Emory University (3.449, 17th), and Washington University in St. Louis (3.330, 45th).
