
Men's Swimming & Diving Finishes Second at ECAC Championship

The New York University men's swimming and diving team finished second at the Eastern College Athletic Conference Championships (ECAC),which concluded on Sunday, December 2.
The Violets finished with 721.50 points, coming in just behind winner The College of New Jersey which finished with 793.50 points.
Overall, the Violets had five NCAA "B" cuts, including junior Paul Hogan in the 1,650 freestyle (16:15.82), junior Eric Wang in both the 200 butterfly (1:54.30) and 400 IM (4:08.75), junior Andrew Lardiere in the 100 freestyle (46.38), and the 400 freestyle relay team consisting of Lardiere, senior captain Brad Thornton, senior Chris Wolff, and sophomore Eric Pcholinski.
Hogan also set a new ECAC Championships record with his winning time in the 500 freestyle (4:39.73) and Lardiere also set a ECAC Championship record when he won the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:43.26.
"Overall, it was a great meet," said head coach Bob Sorenson. "We had more personal bests that we did last year, so we are a little ahead of the pace. It was a very close meet and the difference between first and second place was small. We are pleased with how we performed and look forward to the second half of the year."
The Violets next return to the pool on January 5 at the Golden Panther Invitational at Florida International University in Miami, Florida.
