Men's Swimming & Diving defeats U.S. Coast Guard and Wheaton College

The New York University men's swimming and diving team beat the U.S. Coast Guard Academy 168-130 and Wheaton College 217-61 on Saturday at the Palladium Athletic Facility in Manhattan.

The Violets were led by junior Andrew Lardiere, who took the 50-yard freestyle in 21.83 and the 100-yard freestyle in 47.52. He was also part of the winning 200-yard medley relay team (1:37.4) that featured senior captains Matthew Ferreira and Brad Thornton, as well as senior Shaughn Keating.

Thornton won individually as well, capturing the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:01.65.

Other individual winners for the Violets included freshman Andrew King, who won the 200-yard freestyle (1:46.79), junior Eric Wang, who took the 200-yard butterfly (1:57.17), and junior Paul Hogan, the 500-yard freestyle winner (4:47.42).

Freshman diver Max Norris continued his impressive debut collegiate season by winning both the one-meter (260.32) and three-meter dives (217.20).

The Violets return to the pool next Saturday, November 17, as they face Swarthmore College in Swarthmore, Pennsylvania.
