
Men's Swimming & Diving Takes a Commanding Lead at NYU Invitational

The New York University men's swimming and diving team is in first place, taking seven of eight events, at the 2007 NYU Invitational, which is being held Friday-Saturday, October 19-20, at the Palladium Athletic Facility in Manhattan.
The Violets are currently in first place with 606 points. SUNY Cortland is in second with 392 points, while Stevens Institute of Technology is in third place with 351 points.
Junior Andrew Lardiere was a three-time winner for NYU, taking the 50 free in 21.82 and the 100 butterfly in a time of 54.31. He was also a member of the first- place 400 medley relay team (3:37.57).
Senior captain Brad Thornton was also a multi-event winner. He was a member of the 400 medley relay team and also won the 200 backstroke in a time of 2:02.73.
The 2007 NYU Invitational continues on Saturday with the 1,650 free competition beginning at 9am. The one-meter diving competition begins at 11:30am and the rest of the second day events begin at 1:30pm.
