
#24 Women's Soccer Quelled by Chicago 4-0 in Home Finale

The New York University women's soccer team surrendered three goals in the first 4:46 and suffered a 4-0 loss to University Athletic Association (UAA) rival the University of Chicago on Sunday at the College of Staten Island.
Ranked #24 by d3kicks.com, the Violets (10-3-1, 1-3 UAA) suffered their third straight setback by dropping their final regular-season home match.
Chicago improved to 7-3-3 and 1-1-2 in the UAA.
The Maroons christened the scoring 1:52 into the contest when sophomore midfielder Claire Gill banged in a rebound of her own miss. Junior midfielder Olivia Ndyabagye directed a cross along the endline into the twine off an assist from sophomore forward Brooke Bontz at 3:32 to make it 2-0, then senior midfielder Eva DeLaurentis upped the Maroon advantage to 3-0 on a chip from about 30 yards out.
Chicago took a 4-0 lead into intermission when senior defender Amanda Catalano scored unassisted at 35:51. In the first half, the Maroons owned an 11-3 edge on shots.
Senior goalkeeper Katie Barnes, honored prior to the game, made five saves.
Chicago senior Amanda Sutter put aside four shots.
Chicago owned a 17-9 edge on shots, while each team took five corner kicks.
NYU returns to action Sunday, Oct. 21, when it travels to Montclair State University in Montclair, NJ, for a 2 p.m. non-conference contest. The Violets defeated the Red Hawks 1-0 in 2006 thanks to a goal by Sarah Pillemer.
