Junior forward Sarah Pillemer netted a pair of goals as the New York University women's soccer team recorded a 6-1 triumph over North Park University in the first round of the Stevens Institute of Technology Engineers' Cup on Saturday afternoon in Hoboken, NJ.

NYU improved to 4-0 and will play Stevens Tech, a 2-0 victor over Rensselaar Polytechnic Institute in the tournament's other first-round match, for the Engineers' Cup championship on Sunday, Sept. 9, at 2:30 p.m. The match will be available via live stats and a video webcast courtesy of Stevens Tech.

"We scored some very good goals," head coach Werner T. Dasbach said afterward. "It's exciting when all of our players are contributing."

Through the Violets' first four matches, Pillemer has flashed plenty of the form that made her a 2006 Second Team All-University Athletic Association (UAA) performer. She buried a breakaway off assists by freshman Laura Palumbo and sophomore Nicole Stutz at 5:02, then converted a header off a high lob from freshman Britta Gauthier to make it 2-0 just 6:49 into the action.

Pillemer has scored in all four contests thus far. She paces the Violets in points (8) and is tied for the team lead with three goals.

"She's finding a way to be productive, both individually and for the team," said Dasbach, whose team owned a 30-11 edge on shots. "All of our players are doing that -- our backs, goalkeepers, all of our players who played today."

NYU claimed a 4-0 lead through the first 45 minutes as sophomore Lucy Dolly Caires rocketed a shot into the net off a pass by classmate Sarah Lensing at 12:06, followed by freshman Emily Jenkinson's first collegiate tally off a nifty cross from sophomore Nan Moses.

Freshman Filiz Kipcakli put the Violets ahead 5-0 at 49:53, notching her team-high tying third goal off an assist by classmate Laura Palumbo. Sophomore Brittany LeMonda added her first goal unassisted at 88:36.

Three goalies shared time between the pipes for NYU, with senior Katie Barnes (no shots faced in 12:06), junior Rebekah Kramer (no saves in 42:34) and freshman Alex Walters (one goal, three saves in 35:20).

Christy Johnson netted North Park's (0-3) lone goal at 66:21 off a pass by Emily McWilliams and Amanda Wallden. Ashley Jacobsen (five goals, eight saves) and Ashely Wagner (one goal, three saves) split goalkeeping duties for the Vikings, who will face RPI in the Engineers' Cup consolation match Sunday at noon.
