NYU opened its season successfully, capturing the Skidmore College Classic championship after winning its first two games under new head coach Werner T. Dasbach.

The Violets defeated Skidmore College (2-0 on Aug. 31) and Westfield State College (1-0 on Sept. 1) as senior captain Katie Barnes posted a pair of shutouts. Offensive heroics were provided by junior Sarah Pillemer and freshman Filiz Kipcakli, who contributed a goal and an assist apiece.
