Women's Soccer to Kick Off 2007 Season at Skidmore Friday

A new era in New York University women's soccer will begin Friday afternoon, August 31, when the Violets oppose Skidmore College in the first round of the Skidmore Classic at 4 pm in Saratoga Springs, NY.

It will be NYU's first game under new head coach Werner T. Dasbach, who inherited the Violets' reins after nine years as an assistant at Columbia University.

The Violets will also face Westfield State College at 2pm on Saturday, September 1, at the Classic.

Senior goalkeeper Katie Barnes and sophomore defender Erin Twomey will serve as co-captains for NYU (6-10-1, 0-7 University Athletic Association). Also returning for the Violets will be junior forward Sarah Pillemer, a Second Team All-UAA (University Athletic Association) performer in 2006, and sophomore midfielder/forward Lucy Dolly Caires, a Second Team d3kicks.com All-New York Region selection last year.
