New York University senior midfielder Jeritt Thayer and junior goalkeeper Chris Wright won a pair of weekly awards for their inspired play.

Thayer was tabbed to the d3kicks.com Team of the Week on Tuesday, while Wright captured the University Athletic Association (UAA) Men's Soccer Athlete of the Week - Defense and Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Metro Defensive Player of the Week awards.

Thayer tallied two goals and an assist in a 2-0 week for the Violets (6-1-1), ranked #11 by d3kicks.com and #12 in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/adidas National Rankings. The 2006 All-American set up the game-winning goal and netted a score of his own in a 2-0 triumph over the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy on Sept. 19, then headed home the game-winner in a 4-0 victory over Baruch College on Sept. 21.

Thayer leads NYU in goals (7), points (15) and game-winning goals (2).

Wright repeated as ECAC Metro Defensive Player of the Week after going 2-0 and not allowing a goal in 160:00 of action last week, as the Violets posted shutout victories over the U.S.M.M.A. and Baruch to extend their shutout streak to 329:49. Wright is responsible for 311:49 of that span.

For the season, Wright is 6-1-1 with a 0.88 goals against average and two shutouts.
