Thayer provided the Violets will all of their necessary offense at the 29:40 mark, heading home a Ramirez free kick from the left corner for his seventh goal this season.
NYU headed into halftime ahead 1-0, but quickly added to its cushion at 50:30 when Neal took a thru ball from Ramirez and buried it into the back of the net to make it 2-0. The junior struck again at 64:28, this time converting a thru ball by senior Matthew Tier and winning a one-on-one with the goalkeeper from 20 yards out. Neal now has three scores this season.
Hintz capped the scoring with his first collegiate goal, knocking home a deflection off a Bearcat defender at 74:10.
Junior Chris Wright stopped a free kick by Baruch freshman Freddy Carrasco-Dance in the first half for his lone save. Freshman Matt Stieve saw his first collegiate action between the pipes for NYU and did not have to make a save in his 18 minutes of work.
Baruch sophomore Nelson DiBariano put aside 10 shots in the setback.
NYU owned a 22-2 edge on shots and a 5-2 advantage on corner kicks.
The Violets return to action Wednesday, Sept. 26, when they host CUNYAC squad Hunter College at Fordham University’s Jack Coffey Field in the Bronx. Kick-off is slated for 7 p.m.
